Issue 61 is here! Come celebrate with us in a varied evening of readings, music, and prizes. Bayou contributors will read. Editors will dance. Writers will drink in the way that only writers can drink. The skinny:
Issue 61 Launch Party
6:30pm May 22nd
440 S St Patrick St., New Orleans, LA 70119
When you get to Mid City Yacht Club, grab a drink or order food up front, and then head on back to the courtyard and annex for our festivities.
6:30pm – We’ll start the evening out with Readings by Bayou Magazine Contributors, including this year’s James Knudsen Prize in Fiction Winner, Michael Gerhard Martin, Issue 60 essayist Juyanne James, Issue 60 poet Thomas Schwank, and Issue 59 James Knudsen Prize in Fiction Winner, Ari Braverman backed up by the musical stylings of The Shiz.
7:30pm – The Shiz move from back-up to occupy the foreground as only this all-woman, southern rock band can.
8:30pm – Raffle prize-winners announced!
8:45 – ’til The Jonathan Brown Band (or as we like to call them, poetry and music’s lovechild) will turn up the volume and play the evening out with their own special blend of fiddles and spoken word.
Come listen, drink, dance, play, and be among the first to behold Issue 61 of Bayou Magazine.
